We provide high end digital and darkroom printing services from my studio in the Proctor District of North Tacoma. We are an easy drive from all points on the I5 corridor, culminating in a beautiful cruise along the shoreline of Commencement Bay. We operate by appointment between 10 and 5 to meet your needs. With 45 years in commercial and fine art photography, and ten years in large scale digital printing, we have provided printing services for small production runs and large scale installations. We offer image restoration services too.
Tray-Process Silver This is the traditional darkroom. Our gelatin silver darkroom is equipped with a Fujimoto large format enlarger and Schneider lenses. We can print up to size 16x20 from 35mm to 4x5. I print to Ilford Multigrade papers. I personally tray process by hand each and every one of the prints in the darkroom, which includes processing for permanence.
Pigment Inkjet Printing Our studio runs Canon professional Inkjet printers using light-fast Lucia EX pigmented inks. We print up to 44 inches wide (full-bleed) on a variety of high quality media. We have worked very successfully for years using Hahnemuhle, Innova, and Canson media. As a special service we also offer Photo Tex™ fabric wall coverings. Photo Tex™ is a peel & stick, multi-US patented, adhesive material made of 100% polyester fabric.
Our exciting new printers; the Canon Prograf1000 on the left and the Canon iPF8400 on the right. These are superb pigment inkjet printers using the amazing Lucia pigment inks, Definition and resolution are outstanding, better than anything else out there.
Vintage prints are made within a year of the photographs create date. My usual practice is to print within a few days or weeks of exposure. What you see is a scan of the actual print that is for sale. Price does not include shipping or taxes.
Please note that vintage prints are imperfect. They’re old, after all. If you’re worried about it, bring it up. I’ll do my best to answer your questions.
Vintage - When I print the photograph within a year of the original exposure, that becomes a Vintage Print.
Archival Pigment - When I print in my studio using computer technology with pigmented inks on acid and lignin free paper, I call that an Archival Pigment Print.
Silver - When I print in my darkroom on gelatin silver paper, that is a Silver Print. These prints are double weight on a cotton fiber base.
