Original Photographs of the Pacific Northwest

 

Précis

Christopher's subject is the Pacific Northwest, its people and places.  The tradition of American landscape painting and photography informs his work, as well as urban reportage photography, as seen in the work of W. Eugene Smith, Paul Strand and Ansel AdamsChristopher’s ranges from exploring human relationships to recording grand vistas of the Northwest's rugged Cascade and Olympic terrain.  His prints are well received for their beauty and craftsmanship complimenting his choice of subject matter and strong sense of design.  His work resides in corporate and private collections in the United States and Great Britain.

Resume

Christopher began a career in Commercial and Portrait Photography in 1973.  He served on staff for the City of Tacoma from 1975 to 1979 and The Washington State Legislature for 1982 to 1983.  He created portraits for the Bert Perler Studio from 1973 to 1974.  In 1982 Mr. Wah Lui personally hired him on the strength of his children’s photography to serve as studio photographer at Yuen Lui Studios.  Beginning in 1983, Christopher fulfilled a contract to The Weyerhaeuser Company to produce aerial and site photography.  Finally, he and partner Jerry Timmons established the Image Market Studio in Tacoma, offering portrait, commercial and publication photography.  Christopher retired from full time commercial photography in 1989.  He is married with 4 daughters.
